Philosophy

In life, we are all faced with challenges at one time or another, some of which may be preventing us from living a happy and fulfilled life. Many of us have lived with these challenges a large portion of our lives. Others may be experiencing new challenges that are a direct result of a recent event.

Whatever your circumstances, know that you are not alone.  I can provide you with a non-judgmental, safe and supportive environment where I will work with you to help identify and manage these challenges so you are able to improve your physical, psychological and emotional well being. 

My counselling approach is an integration of Cognitive Behaviorial Therapy (CBT) and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT).  During CBT, we will analyze your thoughts, feelings and behaviours to help you become more aware of inaccurate or negative thinking patterns and how to change them.  EFT involves a client lightly tapping on traditional Chinese acupressure points while simultaneously verbalizing their issue(s).  This process of tapping allows the brain and body to release stress and negative emotions which calms and regulates the central nervous system allowing psychological, emotional and physiological healing to happen naturally.

Educational Background

I am a Registered Professional Counsellor and a member in good standing with the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association.  I am also a Certified Practitioner in Emotional Freedom Technique.

In addition to having over 13 years of counselling experience, I also have 23 years experience in the field of Human Resources.  I volunteered as a Victim Services Support Worker with the West Vancouver Police Department and provided counselling services for clients referred by the Harvest Project.

Personal History

I was born and raised on the North Shore which has provided me with the opportunity to form long lasting, close relationships with family and friends.  I truly care about people and their well being and helping them overcome their life’s challenges.  I believe that using a holistic approach including meditation, exercise, a healthy diet, spending time in nature and laughing with family and friends is fundamental to healing your mind and body.
